New City Baptist Church is pleased to host an information session on The New Spirituality. This seminar explores several of the emerging trends and shows that many of them are not so new at all. Many Christians are unaware that paganism is making a comeback in our culture – especially in Toronto.

Michael Plato, a member of New City Baptist church, will teach this 3-hour session. Michael is a professor at Seneca College, teaching film and world religions. There will be three 50 minutes talks with coffee breaks in between.

Michael will first introduce The New Spirituality and lay out some of its most distinctive features, followed by sessions discussing Jungian psychology, astrology, and “feminine spirituality” - in particular goddess worship, eco spiritualism and witchcraft.

The current human rights situation in North Korea is dire. Millions suffer from hunger eachday while millions more have died from starvation. North Koreans live with very few freedoms and rights. Many have no choice but to escape their country, take on the life of a defector and leave everything behind. Even at that point, however, the possibility of freedom is not guaranteed.

In response, North Korean Human Rights Film Festival is Toronto’s first, to tell the story of the people of North Korea through film. As members of New City participate in hosting this impactful event, we hope to support the efforts tohold this festival to raise awareness, create discussion and bring about change in hopes of contributing to a better situation for North Korea and its people.
